~ Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, MD, medical director of the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute in Brookline, Ma, and world-renowned researcher and recognized leader in the field of psychological trauma, describes Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a disease of being frozen in the past.~
Greenleaf Yoga's Trauma Healing Yoga Groups are a pathway home to the present. Through 9 years of clinical studies, the Trauma Center has discovered that yoga in combination with cognative therapies can be a gentle way of reintroducing one self back to the mind/body awareness that is our birthright, by breaking the bonds of dissociation. Successful clients of the Center have been able to learn to view their body as a resource and not as adversary, learn to befriend their body and learn how to relax the mind, body and spirit through conscious breath awareness and gentle movement.
Yoga/Meditation teacher, Pamela O'Brien, CYT is offer an innovative/proven Mind-Body based program for those suffering the ill-effects of psychological trauma due to residuals of physical, sexual, emotional abuse, domestic violence, combat violence and traumatic brain injury which often leave one with a condition known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
